India’s refiners have largely been avoiding sending tankers into the Middle East Gulf to pick up cargoes directly inside the Strait of Hormuz, with some taking cargoes via ship-to-ship (STS) transfer in the Gulf of Oman and others preferring that cargoes be delivered into Indian ports, senior industry officials told Energy Intelligence.
