Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday expressed his displeasure over the manner in which students of the Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Residential School for Boys at Marikavalasa were shifted following its upgradation into a Centre of Excellence.The MLA visited the school on Friday and interacted with the officials. “What have these children done? Are they terrorists? Why was there a need to send them out in the middle of the night with their belongings?” he questioned.“The government has taken up the Centre of Excellence initiative with good intentions, but the manner in which the students were reportedly forced to vacate the premises and sent to tribal areas could bring a bad name to the government,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao.He said the students should have been shifted only after discussing the issue with their parents and convincing them about the proposed arrangements. “Handling the matter in such a manner could send a wrong message to the public and create unnecessary apprehensions among the parents and students,” he said.
