Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Thursday asked officials to impose heavy fines on individuals who have dug borewells within the drainage canals to extract water for their use. He questioned who would be held accountable for the consequences arising from the consumption of such contaminated water.The MLA inspected some localities in Tagarapuvalasa where there was severe drainage and traffic issues and expressed dissatisfaction over the negligent attitude of the officials in resolving them.Noticing that borewells and motors were obstructing the smooth flow of sewage within the drainage canals, he enquired with the officials about the same. Learning that these borewells had been in use for 25 years, he expressed his exasperation with the officials conduct.He directed Zonal Commissioner M. Vijay Kumar to initiate strict action against those responsible. In regard to traffic jams at the Tagarapuvalasa junction caused by commercial establishments encroaching upon the main road, he said the issue must be treated with the seriousness.Noting that the Bhogapuram Airport is set to become operational starting next month, he stated that the Bheemili-Tagarapuvalasa road would become a critical thoroughfare and ordered that road expansion works commence immediately. He directed that proposals for the expansion of the Bheemili Main Road, Narasimhaswamy Temple Road, Beach Road, and the Ganta Stambham–Beach Road stretch be implemented without delay.Mr Srinivasa Rao said he would conduct a field-level inspection for the development of Bheemili, accompanied by Minister P.
