Sainik School Amaravathinagar conducted a two-day tree plantation drive on August 24 and 25 as part of the national initiative ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, planting 1,000 saplings on its campus.The plantation on August 24 was supported by Union Bank of India as part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, while the programme on August 25 was conducted with the support of the NGO Vanathukkul Thiruppur.The school has set a target of planting 4,000 saplings by October in phases. Cadets were encouraged to take responsibility for the saplings they planted and ensure their regular watering and protection.Addressing the cadets, the principal said planting a tree was only the first step and that its survival depended on sustained care. The cadets also took a pledge to nurture the saplings planted in their mothers’ names.The programme was attended by the school principal, vice-principal and administrative officer, along with officials of Union Bank of India and members of Vanathukkul Tiruppur.
