BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav has called upon party leaders, workers and people to actively participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A tree in mother’s name) campaign to be held across the State on June 5 in observance of World Environment Day.In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Madhav urged BJP cadres to organise plantation drives in mandal headquarters. He appealed to people to plant at least one sapling in the name of their mother and take responsibility for its care and protection.Emphasising that environmental conservation is the responsibility of every citizen, Mr. Madhav said the initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi received an overwhelming response across the country. He noted that the programme not only promotes environmental protection but also symbolises respect and gratitude towards mothers.Calling to transform it into a people’s movement by involving educational institutions, youth organisations, voluntary groups and social service organisations, he stressed the importance of ensuring the survival and growth of the saplings planted.Mr. Madhav appealed to all sections of society to contribute towards building a greener Andhra Pradesh through sustained participation in plantation and conservation activities.
