Alibaba Cloud, the Alibaba Group’s global AI infrastructure provider, has launched its first cloud region in Brazil, consisting of two data centers.
The new region offers businesses, startups, developers, and public institutions access to a comprehensive portfolio of cloud services with local infrastructure, designed for mission-critical workloads that require low latency, resilience, and data governance. The company also plans to introduce enterprise-grade agent-based AI services in the region.
The launch marks Alibaba Cloud’s first region in South America and expands its presence in Latin America, following the inauguration of the Mexico region in February 2025. With this expansion, the company now operates 106 availability zones across 31 regions worldwide, as part of a global investment of $53 billion (275.4 billion reais) in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Allen Guo, general manager of the Latin America Region and vice president of International Business at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, highlighted Brazil as one of the world’s most dynamic digital economies and as a key market for the company’s expansion in the region. According to Guo, the combination of local infrastructure, an AI and cloud portfolio, and a growing partner ecosystem aims to support Brazilian companies in developing cloud and AI capabilities, connecting them to the company’s global network.
