Alibaba Cloud said it has launched its first data centres in France, building on locations in Germany and the UK, amid calls for more locally based compute infrastructure to power AI and other services.
The company said the move was due to growing customer demand.
“The expansion of our cloud infrastructure into France reinforces our ongoing commitment to empowering European businesses with sovereign, secure, and intelligent solutions,” said Feifei Li, chief technology officer of Alibaba Cloud and president of international business. Li is unrelated to the similarly named AI computer scientist Li Fei-Fei.
