Alibaba Cloud has launched a fifth data center in Japan.
This comes just months after the company expanded the region with a fourth availability zone in March 2026. Alibaba launched its Tokyo region in 2016.

The latest addition is located in Tokyo, and according to Alibaba, is targeting demand from Japanese customers in the retail, gaming, entertainment, and manufacturing sectors.
Takeshi Kurita, general manager of Japan and South Korea, Alibaba Cloud, said: “The launch of our fifth data center in Tokyo, combined with the local availability of Model Studio and access to our latest AI models, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to Japan’s digital future.
