FC Barcelona is weighing a €45 million move for an attacker currently on AS Roma’s books, according to reports from Spanish football media. The potential deal would mark another significant outlay in what has already been a free-spending summer for the Catalan giants.
Barcelona already completed the signing of Rodri from Manchester City, a deal worth an initial €60 million that could climb to €75 million with performance-based add-ons. Adding another €45 million target on top of that would push Barcelona’s summer spending well past the €100 million mark.
Roma’s own transfer activity
Roma hasn’t been sitting idle this window either. The Italian club secured Santiago Castro from Bologna in a deal worth €35 million plus add-ons, and brought in Rodrigo Mora from Porto for a flat €25 million. Both signings were focused on the forward line. If Roma has already invested €60 million in new attacking talent, parting with an existing forward for €45 million starts to look like a calculated portfolio rebalancing, representing a net spend of roughly €15 million on forwards.
