According to information obtained by IranWire, Leila Abolhasani, a detainee from the January 2026 protests, has been sentenced to death on the charge of “Moharebeh” (enmity against God). Following an appeal, her case is currently under review by the Supreme Court.

Leila Abolhasani, approximately 43 years old and a mother of two teenagers, has been held in Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan since January 8.

An informed source told IranWire that Abolhasani was arrested on January 8 in Shahin Shahr while taking photographs of a fire at an “Ofogh Koorosh” store.

According to the source, the Judiciary accused her of involvement in setting fire to the store, a charge that led to her death sentence.

Vahid Hemmatnejad, the presiding judge of Branch 5 of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court, sentenced Leila Abolhasani to death on the charge of “Moharebeh” in late May 2026.
