Honda's product planners are reworking their playbook, and the Accord and CR-V are central to it. A supplier memo cited by Automotive News and other outlets says the current gasoline-only Accord runs through March 2030, after which the next redesign could shift the car to hybrid-only. Analysts expect the CR-V to follow a similar path, alongside Honda’s formal global plan for more than 15 next-generation hybrids by fiscal 2030.
American Honda is not hiding the direction. Executives told reporters at a recent briefing that hybrid demand, not regulation, is driving decisions on core models like the Accord, CR-V and Civic. Hybrids already anchor Honda’s volume strategy in North America.
