Korea’s average household income rose 4.5 percent year on year in the second quarter of 2026, reaching 5.29 million won a month on higher wage and transfer income. Inflation-adjusted household income increased 1.5 percent, while monthly spending rose 3 percent to 3.99 million won. Income increased across all brackets, and the income ratio between the top 20 percent and bottom 20 percent fell to 4.97.

Korea's average household income rose 4.5 percent from a year earlier in the second quarter of 2026 on increases in wage and transfer income, data showed Thursday.
The average monthly household income came to 5.29 million won ($3,810) in the April-June period, according to data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
In a separate report, the finance ministry said inflation-adjusted household income rose 1.5 percent.
