A 20-year-old man, identified as Pascal Ogbogu, has allegedly killed his 56-year-old father with a machete in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was gathered that the suspect attacked his father with a machete on the throat on Tuesday, after which he dumped his remains in a room and fled.
Ogbogu was later arrested by police operatives from the Eziowelle Police Division, with the assistance of family members and members of the community vigilante, following a distress report.
The spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday.
Ikenga added that preliminary information revealed that the suspect committed the crime on Tuesday evening, adding that the remains of the father had been evacuated to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
