The firm order placed by Solaris and the public transport operator in Olomouc initially comprises ten units each of the Urbino 12 electric and Urbino 18 electric – an equal split of battery-electric solo and articulated buses. The recently signed contract between the two parties also includes an option to expand the order by an additional 20 vehicles, consisting of 15 battery-electric solo buses and five articulated buses.

This collaboration is far from new for the contracting parties: Solaris has delivered a total of 96 buses to Olomouc to date. However, the vehicles from the latest contract will be the first battery-electric buses from Solaris to join the transport company’s fleet.

The Czech Republic is one of Solaris’s most important markets. “For many years, the manufacturer has been supplying buses and trolleybuses to the country, consistently supporting Czech cities and operators in the transition towards zero-emission public transport,” the manufacturer states. According to Solaris’s own statistics, nearly 1,500 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Czech customers to date, including more than 500 zero-emission vehicles – namely battery-electric buses, hydrogen buses and trolleybuses.
