Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region, Russia.
According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
Overnight on August 26, Ukrainian Defense Forces units struck the refinery’s facilities in Kstovo. The strike on the target has been confirmed, followed by a fire on the plant’s premises. The extent of the damage is being assessed.
It is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries and is part of the Lukoil group. The facility has an annual crude oil processing capacity of approximately 17 million tones. The refinery produces motor gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, sulfur and other petroleum products.
The facility is involved in meeting the needs of the Russian Armed Forces.
