You have to feel for Abdeslam Ouaddou. After building Orlando Pirates into the most dominant team in the PSL top flight last season, he’s set to rebuild yet again this season as his structure continues to buckle due to injuries and departures.
Fan favourite and attacker Patrick Maswanganyi became the latest player to leave the Soweto giants on Monday, following his move to Bahrain Premier League side Alkhaldiya Sports Club.
Maswanganyi notably followed Relebohile Mofokeng, who joined Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, and Sipho Mbule, who also moved to Iraq, through the exit door. Deano van Rooyen also parted ways with the club recently by mutual consent.
With 17 players having already left since the start of the season, there could still be more departures as the local transfer window only closes late next month – something that could result in a nervy period for Ouaddou.
