Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says managing the club’s Bafana Bafana internationals will be crucial as the Buccaneers prepare for a demanding season that could see them play nearly 60 matches.
Pirates are set for another packed campaign after winning the Betway Premiership last season, with the Soweto giants also competing in the CAF Champions League, MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup and Nedbank Cup.
Should they progress to the latter stages of each competition, Ouaddou’s side could play close to 60 matches, placing added strain on a squad that already had several players involved at the Fifa World Cup in North America during the off-season.
The Buccaneers had eight representatives in Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad, although that number has since dropped to seven following Relebohile Mofokeng’s move abroad after the tournament.
