Bruno Fernandes now owns a record that two of the Premier League’s most gifted creators couldn’t hold onto. The Manchester United captain registered his 21st assist of the 2025/26 season on May 24, breaking the previous mark of 20 that Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne had shared for years.

The record-setting assist came in typically understated fashion: a corner kick that found Patrick Dorgu’s head in a 3-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

A slow start, then a freight train

What makes the record even more impressive is that Fernandes didn’t register his first assist of the season until October 19, 2025. That’s roughly two months of Premier League football without a single one.

The pace was relentless enough to leave Rayan Cherki of Manchester City, the league’s second-most prolific creator, nine assists behind by season’s end.
