Krishna Mutt in Udupi will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on September 4 and Krishna Leelotsava which is also called Vitlapindi at Car Street on September 5. The celebrations will conclude on September 6, according to paryaya seer and pontiff of Shiroor Mutt Vedavardhana Tirtha.Addressing a press conference in Udupi on Tuesday, he said that Argya Pradhana to Lord Krishna will be held at 12.12 a.m. on September 5. Maha Pooja and Annasantharpane will be held in the morning on September 5, and various competitions including tiger costume dance have been organised in the Rajangana later.A procession of the idol of Lord Krishna in a golden chariot will be taken out at Car Street at 3.30 p.m. As part of the Vitlapindi, a wrestling performance will be held by invited wrestling experts on a special stage at the Rathabidi, which will be one of the main attractions of the festival.As part of the Ashtami Vitlapindi festival, a tiger costume competition will be held on a special stage for two days. Various cultural programmes, special programmes for children and art performances by international level artists have been organised as part of the festival.A concluding ceremony of the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations will be held on September 6. Prizes will be distributed to the winners of various competitions. Koti Tulsi Archane to Lord Krishna will be performed on that day.Preparations are under way to celebrate Janmashtami and Vitlapindi festival in a grand manner with a blend of devotion, religious rituals, cultural splendor and folk art performances, the seer said.The Diwan of the mutt Udayakumar Saralthaya was present.
