Iman Rashidi, a Baha’i resident of Yazd, was transferred to Yazd Prison on Sunday, August 23, after reporting to the Enforcement of Sentences Branch of the Yazd Revolutionary Court to begin serving his prison term.
The Yazd Revolutionary Court had previously sentenced Rashidi to three years, six months, and one day of imprisonment, with credit for time served during his prior detention, on charges of “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic system” and “deviant promotional activities contrary to the sacred religion of Islam.”
Additionally, he was sentenced to 15 years of fifth-degree social rights deprivation and ordered to pay a fifth-degree fine of 371 million rials.
The Baha’i citizen was initially arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents in Yazd on October 5, 2023. Following five and a half months of temporary detention, he was released on bail from Yazd Prison on March 16, 2024.
According to a notification issued by Branch 1 of the Enforcement of Sentences of the Yazd Revolutionary Court, Rashidi and his guarantor were given a 10-day deadline to present themselves for the execution of the sentence. On the tenth day of the notice period, Rashidi voluntarily surrendered to the Enforcement Branch and, upon completion of administrative procedures, was transferred to Yazd Prison to begin serving his sentence.
