The HRANA news agency reported that the one-year prison sentence handed to Amin Imanian, a Baha’i citizen residing in Babol, was fully upheld by the Mazandaran Province Court of Appeals.
According to information obtained by HRANA, Branch 9 of the Mazandaran Province Court of Appeals upheld Imanian’s one-year prison sentence on charges of “propaganda activities against the regime.” The ruling was communicated to him electronically on July 21.
The Baha’i citizen had previously been tried on the same charge by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Babol and sentenced to one year in prison.
Amin Imanian is a former boxing champion in Mazandaran Province, as well as an official referee and coach with the National Boxing Federation. He has repeatedly faced harassment, restrictions, and the deprivation of his civil rights due to his religious beliefs.
