Springboks captain Siya Kolisi has made some miraculous comebacks from injury during his storied career.
He has twice overcome career-threatening knee injuries at the eleventh hour prior to Rugby World Cups, defying medical odds to steer South Africa to back-to-back Webb Ellis Cup triumphs at Japan 2019 and France 2023.
Kolisi’s life and playing career are defined by an uncanny ability to conquer adversity and rise to the biggest occasions. Not many top rugby players, let alone people, could have survived what he has been through in his life, going from a kid struggling to find food to leading his country in over 100 Test matches. A miracle to say the least.
As we head into the second Test of Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series between the Springboks and All Blacks in Cape Town, Bok coach Rassie Erasmus will be hoping his captain can again find a way to get onto the park and defy a niggling hamstring injury.
