RETURN: Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has backed captain Siya Kolisi to overcome injury and lead the world champions to glory.
Rassie Erasmus has backed Siya Kolisi to again overcome injury setbacks and lead the Springboks into Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series, saying history shows his captain always delivers when it matters most.
Kolisi will make his long-awaited return from injury in Saturday night's friendly against Argentina after a frustrating year in which he featured sparingly for the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship and missed South Africa's Nations Championship campaign.
According to Erasmus, the veteran loose forward has repeatedly proved his ability to return from lengthy layoffs in peak condition.
"The one guy that we don't have to worry about coming back from injury is Siya," Erasmus said. "Before the 2023 World Cup, Siya had a long-term knee injury, and it was always a race against time to see if he would be ready, but he won the race.
