WORCESTER – Police in Massachusetts believe they have found the body of a woman suspected of killing her cop husband, authorities announced Monday, Aug. 24.The discovery of the body believed to be that of Karen Solomon comes nearly a week after the woman’s husband, Worcester Police Officer Kurt Solomon, was found dead the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 18. City police chief Paul Saucier said the department believes the case to be a "tragic murder-suicide."An extensive manhunt for the department veteran’s wife ended close to 1 p.m. on Aug. 24, Saucier said. The woman’s body was found behind a Worcester-area hospital. Police also found a handgun though it was not the officer's service weapon, Saucier said. Officer Solomon was killed at the couple's Wildwood Avenue house.Worcester police shared a statement from the Solomon family in response to their latest discovery."The nightmare of the past week has left our family heartbroken and rudderless," the statement read. "The compassion, dedication and empathy of all agencies involved have given us light in the face of darkness. The selflessness of those who have helped us weather the storm cannot be expressed in simple words. However we, the members of the Solomon family, will try."Kurt Solomon, 57, was a 31-year veteran of the Police Department. Saucier said there was no history of domestic violence between the couple. The police chief did not elaborate on the circumstances that may have led to the killing, citing an ongoing investigation.
