Authorities have recovered the body of Karen Solomon, 58, behind Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts, ending a nearly weeklong search for the woman suspected in the death of her husband, veteran Worcester Police Patrolman Kurt Solomon.Worcester Police Department (WPD) Chief Paul Saucier announced during an August 24 press conference that two hospital employees discovered Solomon's body in the woods around 1 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, while out on a walk. A handgun was recovered near the body. Saucier stated that officials believe the deaths are a "tragic murder-suicide."The discovery follows an ongoing search launched after 57-year-old Kurt Solomon was found dead in a home on the morning of August 18. Following the discovery of his body, Karen Solomon was named as a suspect in his death. In an initial written alert, the WPD noted concern that she "may be armed."Authorities noted that other individuals were at the home at the time of Kurt's death.
