Ukraine and Syria are planning to deepen cooperation in the agricultural sector and are preparing to sign a memorandum of cooperation outlining key areas of future partnership.
The issues were discussed during an online meeting between Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi and Syria’s Minister of Agriculture Basel Hafez al-Suwaidan, Ukrinform reported, citing the ministry.
“Our agricultural sectors face similar challenges, so it is important to exchange experience and seek practical solutions together. A separate priority is the swift restoration of safe navigation. Ukraine is working on this with international partners, as stable maritime logistics is essential for bilateral trade with Syria,” Vysotskyi said.
The sides paid particular attention to food support for Syria. Under the Food from Ukraine program, Ukraine has already delivered 15,662 tonnes of wheat flour to the country.
Vysotskyi stressed Ukraine’s readiness to share modern agrotechnologies, engage in joint research and trials, and supply specialized seed material adapted to local climatic conditions.
