President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine would never forget that the United Kingdom declared its support from the first days of the full-scale war, when others were still hesitating, and has continued to provide assistance.
As reported by Ukrinform, the President made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who is visiting Kyiv today.
“We are very glad that you are here. We are very grateful to you and truly love your country. (…) You have helped us so much. This is not only about military or financial assistance, not only about everything you have supplied to Ukraine; it is about clear and strong support from the very beginning of this war. At that time, many people, many leaders were hesitating, trying to understand what would happen a week or a month after the occupation began. You know, sometimes people want to be successful, to be on the side of the winner. At that moment, your country was very strong and clearly stood on our side, and we will never forget that,” Zelensky stressed.
He expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom, its government and His Majesty for their position.
The President also said he was pleased to see the UK Prime Minister in Kyiv on Ukraine’s most important day – Independence Day.
