From Ajax arrival to Fulham centurion
Bassey arrived from Ajax in July 2023 for a reported fee of around €21 million, tasked with shoring up a defense that needed both depth and flexibility. He proved capable of slotting in at left-back or centre-back depending on tactical need. That versatility is especially valuable to Arbeloa, who has indicated Bassey is central to the high defensive line he wants to implement this season.
