US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced new sanctions on Tehran to “sever every economic lifeline that sustains Iran”, saying Trump is asking US allies to join the measure.
The announcement comes after Iran issued a warning that vessels violating its rules for transiting the Strait of Hormuz could face restrictions, including fines, detention or confiscation.
