Sergio Estrada / Imagn ImagesAug. 24, 2026 12:00 pm EDT Updated San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO John “Jed” York was arrested on Sunday in East Palestine, Ohio, on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, according to court records.York was booked Sunday morning and released that afternoon on an Own Recognizance (OR) bond, the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. York appeared in Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday, where he pleaded no contest to both charges.York was fined $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools and sentenced to two days in jail. The fourth-degree disorderly conduct charge was originally listed as engaging in prostitution before it was changed. Court records also ordered a cellular device to be returned to York and $160 that was seized to be forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of an agreement by both parties.
The team, York’s attorney and the NFL did not immediately respond to requests for comment.The York family took control of the 49ers in 2000 when, following a corruption case in Louisiana, then-owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. ceded the franchise to his sister, Denise DeBartolo York.Jed York began working under his father, acting owner John York, in the early 2000s and in 2008 became the franchise’s CEO, which involved running the team’s day-to-day activities. In 2024, he acquired enough of his mother’s stake in the team to become the principal owner.Jed York and 49ers Enterprises are also co-owners of the Leeds United soccer club in the Premier League and of the Scottish Premiership team Rangers F.C.The DeBartolos and now the Yorks have long had a presence in the Youngstown, Ohio, area, and York’s parents own a home in the vicinity.
