The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter list has left 5.13 lakh names of voters out of the electoral rolls in Belagavi district.This is a reduction of 12.49% from the earlier rolls.As per the draft list published on Monday, there are 35,93,561 voters in the district.The earlier rolls contained 41.06 lakh voters. Of these, 18,05,685 are males, 17,87,715 females and 161 gender minorities.District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan told reporters in Belagavi on Monday that the SIR has removed 5,13,439 names of voters.“They include 1,34,093 deceased, 26,459 absent and 2,83,249 permanently displaced. All those who have been left out will be given notices. Those whose names are not in the list have until September 23 to file objections,” he said.“Among those who have been excluded from this list and those who are newly included should apply through Form 6. Non-Resident Indians can apply through Form 6A. Form 7 should be used if voters names need to be deleted from the list, and Form 8 if voters want to move from one constituency to another,” he said.“This list has been published in offices of all Tahsildars, taluk panchayats, urban local bodies and gram panchayats in the district. Voters can check if their names are in the list. They can also view it on the Election Commission’s website,” he said.Of the 18 Assembly constituencies in Belagavi district, Belgaum Rural Constituency has the highest number of voters (2,35,426) and the Kudachi Assembly seat has the lowest (1,75,231).There are more women voters than men in Chikkodi-Sadalga, Hukkeri, Gokak, Yamakanamardi, Belagavi North and Belagavi South constituencies.Belagavi City Corporation Commissioner Karthik M., who is the Chief Electoral Registration Officer in the city, has said that there is no need for panic among those who have been left out of the draft list.The first phase of SIR has been completed and the draft electoral rolls have been published.Those who have been left out from the list due to various reasons can file objections at the SIR wing of the city corporation seeking inclusion in the list. They should appear in person before the inquiry officer, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer, to reply to the notice issued and submit supplementary documents.And those who are facing no linkage due to not being mapped, no progeny or new voters can get their names included in the list if they submit Form No 6 and the necessary documents.The period for filing objections is open till September 23.There are a total of 2,52,937 voters in the Belagavi South Assembly Constituency.Booth level officers have distributed enumeration forms to all voters in the existing list.In the Belagavi South constituency, 76.60% of 1,93,755 forms have been digitised.
