Acosta’s admission that she handed over confidential funds to somebody else in violation of government rules is significant, but allegations of OVP fund misuse are old news. The prosecution needs a bombshell testimony to sway public opinion, and Lachica could be it.
Vice President Sara Duterte’s former special disbursing officer Gina Acosta sounded like a broken record as she mentioned the name of the person who received the hundreds of millions of pesos in confidential funds she withdrew in 2022 and 2023.
“I disbursed the funds to Colonel Raymund Lachica,” Acosta said repeatedly.
