POS Union Rejects N300 Weekly Levy, Demands Cancellation, Legal Basis From Lagos Council

The POS Operators and Allied Informal Financial Workers Union of Nigeria (PAFWUN) has rejected a reported N300 weekly levy imposed on Point-of-Sale (POS) operators in Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Badagry, Lagos State, describing it as double taxation and exploitation of informal workers.

In a statement dated August 22, 2026, and signed by its General Secretary, Salako Kayode, the union demanded the immediate suspension and cancellation of the levy.

PAFWUN also demanded that the council publish the law, bye-law, regulation or statutory instrument authorising the collection, as well as provide an account of all monies collected from POS operators since the levy was introduced.

“We reject this levy in its entirety and demand its immediate suspension and cancellation,” the union said.
