Victim found with wire around neck in Rawalpindi apartmentLast updated: August 23, 2026 | 18:212 MIN READAseefa said those responsible must be brought to justice and “made an example of so no one dares to repeat such an act”.Dubai: Pakistan’s First Lady Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday called for a thorough investigation into the murder of Hina Javed, who was found dead in her Rawalpindi apartment earlier this week.Hina was found dead in the washroom of her apartment in Askari Apartments, Lal Kurti, on Thursday evening, with her body bearing signs of torture and a wire fastened around her neck and tied to the shower rod, Dawn reported.Police have detained her husband and a domestic servant in connection with the case, while her father-in-law has been questioned.In a post on X, the President’s Office said Aseefa had “expressed deep concern and sorrow over the reported brutal murder of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi, and conveyed her solidarity and condolences to the bereaved family”.She urged the Punjab government to conduct a “thorough inquiry and proper investigation into the heinous crime”.Aseefa said those responsible must be brought to justice and “made an example of so no one dares to repeat such an act”.She also expressed alarm over incidents of violence against women in Pakistan and called for measures to protect women and prevent such crimes.Brother alleges severe tortureAccording to a first information report registered on August 20 at the Civil Lines police station, Hina’s brother Fahid Javed alleged that his sister had been murdered by her husband, his father and their domestic servant.The case was registered under Sections 302, relating to premeditated murder, and 34, relating to common intention, of the Pakistan Penal Code.Fahid told police that he received a telephone call from Hina’s father-in-law at around 6.53pm on Thursday informing him of an emergency at the residence.He said he rushed to the apartment with other family members, arriving at about 7.23pm, where he found his sister’s body in the bathroom.The brother alleged that Hina had been subjected to “severe torture and mistreatment” by her husband.
