A Sub-Inspector and a constable attached to the Chandanagar police station were caught taking a bribe of ₹75,000 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials of Ranga Reddy Range on Saturday.The accused were identified as Bandela Balraj, SI, and Botta Raghavendra Kumar, Police Constable, who was working as a station writer.According to the ACB, Balraj demanded and accepted ₹75,000 from the complainant in return for an official favour in connection with a criminal case booked at Chandanagar police station, including investigating the case and filing a charge sheet.The ACB said Balraj had already received ₹20,000 in cash, while Raghavendra Kumar had received ₹10,000 through UPI payments. On Saturday, Balraj allegedly accepted ₹75,000 more and was caught red-handed by the ACB officials. The tainted amount was recovered from Balraj’s possession at his instance from a drawer in his office table, the ACB said.The bureau alleged that the two accused officials had acted improperly and dishonestly in the discharge of their duties to obtain undue advantage.Both officials were arrested and will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.The bureau has appealed to members of the public to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number, 1064, so action can be taken according to the law.
