The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Friday arrested a sub-inspector of police from Manuguru police station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, following a case registered against him for criminal misconduct.The officer, identified as Bathini Ranjith, demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 from a complainant.According to the ACB, the bribe was demanded for issuing notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) Act to the complainant and their brother.Following the registration of the case, the accused officer has been arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal.Further investigation is under way.Meanwhile, the ACB advised people to report any demand for bribes by government officials on its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged via WhatsApp, Facebook, or on X, with assurance that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential. Published - September 26, 2025 07:30 pm IST
