Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda delivered his speech in Ukrainian at a ceremony to raise Ukraine’s National Flag, assuring that Lithuania will stand with Ukraine until victory.
An Ukrinform correspondent reported this.
“The spirit of freedom that I feel here is incomparable to anything else. The example of self-sacrifice that you demonstrate every day is especially precious to the Lithuanian people. We know the price of freedom very well. We know how painful it is to lose it and how much effort it takes to regain it,” Nausėda said.
He noted that he clearly remembers February 2022, when he visited Kyiv together with the former president of Poland, one day before the start of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression.
“In those terrible days, all of Lithuania united to help Ukraine and its people. The streets of our cities were filled with Ukrainian flags. It was a sight I had never seen anywhere else. The flags raised 42 months ago are still flying today,” the Lithuanian President assured.
