A fresh low-pressure area has formed over the north-west Bay of Bengal on Sunday morning, extending what is beginning to look like an unbroken relay of tropical disturbances. Farther to the east, the South China Sea and western Pacific remain unusually busy, with storm after storm stirring the atmosphere and sending easterly pulses westward across Indochina and into the Bay.Striking tableau Sunday morning’s satellite pictures offered a striking tableau: three tropical systems arranged across the west Pacific and South China Sea. In the lead was typhoon Saudel, heading towards the east China coast. Tropical storm Narra lingered off Vietnam, while tropical depression 19 spun east of the Philippines.
The El Nino-fuelled warmth has extended from the east and equatorial Pacific to west Pacific/South China Sea rearing up one tropical disturbance after the other even over the Bay of Bengal.
