The ambassador described Fidel Castro as a historic figure whose work and legacy had become permanently cemented in world history.
The Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, has called for the immediate lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba, saying the policy has caused severe hardship for the Cuban people.
Morales Palmero made the call in Lagos State, while delivering a speech at an official ceremony marking the centenary of the birth of Cuba’s revolutionary leader and former President, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
The event was attended by members of the Nigeria-Cuba Solidarity Movement, trade union members, friends of the Cuban Embassy and other supporters.
