It's going to be a late night for the Dallas Cowboys as they take on the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Their matchup will kick off at 10:00 pm ET, which is the latest game on the schedule. For fans on the west coast, this will be quite the treat since they don't typically get true prime time kickoffs. For fans on the east coast, it will be a test to see if they can stay up for the entire game.During the game itself, there will be plenty to watch, even without the starters expected to be on the field. The Cowboys have some intriguing battles taking place as they figure out their initial 53-man roster and with that being the case, here's a look at three veterans who enter this game with their jobs in danger.Terence Steele, Right TackleDallas Cowboys offensive tackle Terence Steele against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectTerence Steele is the senior member of the Dallas offensive line, but he also has the least job security. Steele took a paycut this offseason to remain with the team, but hasn't seen his performance improve. He was even called out recently by head coach Brian Schottenheimer for his lack of consistency.Dallas re-worked Steele's contract rather than outright releasing him because they didn't have anyone they felt could replace him as a starter. If someone changes their minds, they might be willing to make the switch. That's why it's worth watching Nate Thomas and Drew Shelton this weekend to see if they have taken any steps forward in their development. If so, that could be enough to put serious pressure on Steele.Dee Winters, Inside LinebackerDallas Cowboys linebacker Dee Winters at training camp at River Ridge Playing Fields. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectAdded in a draft-day trade with the San Francisco 49ers, Dee Winters was penciled in as the starter the moment he was acquired. He's done nothing to change his status as a starter as Winters has been nothing short of solid during training camp. The problem for him is that rookie Jaishawn Barham has been lighting it up.Barham came into camp saying he wanted to take someone's job and Winters is the player most likely to fall victim to his success. Barham, who missed the first preseason game, will make his debut on Saturday night and if he looks as good during the game as he has in practice, he might put himself in line for the starting job in Week 1 of the regular season.Malik Hooker, SafetyDallas Cowboys safety Malik Hooker goes through a drill during practice at the Ford Center at the Star Training Facility. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectMalik Hooker is the most experienced and longest-tenured player in the Dallas secondary. He also happens to be rather underappreciated for the stability he's brought to a position that was once a revolving door. That said, he enters 2026 on shaky ground.New defensive coordinator Christian Parker loves versatility among his safety corps, which he has in three new faces: Caleb Downs, Jalen Thompson, and P.J. Locke. He also has experience working with Locke while Thompson has ties to Dallas secondary coach Ryan Smith, who was on staff with the Cardinals the past three seasons with Thompson. While Downs has no direct ties to the staff, he was the No. 11 overall pick and has the makings of a star. That means there's no history with the defensive coaching staff to lean on, which is why Hooker has been a name to watch this offseason. His position hasn't been a major question, but that could change if Julius Wood continues to shine. Wood was a stud in the Preseason Week 1 win over the Seahawks and is also a special teams standout. If he secures a spot on the roster, it could put Hooker's future in jeopardy.— Sign up for the Cowboys Daily Digest newsletter for more free coverage from Dallas Cowboys on SI —Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
