The Dallas Cowboys had a solid showing in their preseason debut as they defeated the Seattle Seahawks. This week, they face another NFC West foe as they take on the Arizona Cardinals in a late game on Saturday night.Head coach Brian Schottenheimer is not a fan of playing starters in the preseason, so most of the big names won't see any snaps in this one. That doesn't mean there won't be plenty of reasons to tune in.One of the primary things to keep an eye on will be how players fare as they fight for their spot on the roster. With the stage set, here's a look at five Cowboys who will be trying to secure their position on the roster during the second week of the preseason.Nate Thomas, OTDallas Cowboys tackle Nate Thomas during training camp at the River Ridge Fields. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectThe backup offensive line left a lot to be desired against the Seahawks and will be a focal point once again this weekend against Arizona. One player in particular who needs to step up is Nate Thomas. It wasn't that long ago that Thomas was being called a threat for the starting left tackle job. Now, he needs to prove he can handle the swing tackle duties or be in danger of finding himself on the bubble should the Cowboys look for outside help.Julius Wood, SDallas Cowboys safety Julius Wood reacts to a special teams play during the first half against the Seattle Seahawks. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectSafety Julius Wood was a stud against the Seahawks and reminded us all why he's often a fan favorite during training camp. The Cowboys are deep at safety but with a new defensive coordinator, there's a fresh slate for everyone. That's why Wood has a realistic chance at making the roster, especially if he picks up where he left off.Camden Brown, WRDallas Cowboys wide receiver Camden Brown on the field during practice at the Ford Center at the Star Training Facility. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectCamden Brown was a breakout star that hardly anyone saw coming in Week 1. The Seahawks didn't know what to expect from him, but the Cardinals will be well-prepared now that he has some film out there. Brown put himself in the mix for the WR5 job and can lock it up with another strong outing.Joe Milton III, QBDallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton III throws the ball at training camp at River Ridge Playing Fields. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectSam Howell got the start in Week 1 and seemingly had the upper hand in the QB2 battle with Joe Milton. That may have shifted with Milton playing as well as he did against the Seahawks once he was on the field. Milton could wind up starting this weekend, and if he does, he can put himself back in the driver's seat. The Cowboys know Milton has plenty of talent, but they want to see more consistency and the presence of Howell might have been the exact push he needed.Jaydon Blue, RBDallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue carries the ball against the Seattle Seahawks. | IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectEarly in camp, Jaydon Blue was turning heads and looked poised for a breakout in year two. After issues with fumbles, his job security isn't what it once was. He's feeling pressure from Malik Davis and Israel Abanikanda, plus there's a belief the Cowboys could look for a RB2 elsewhere before the regular season. For now, however, they're content giving Blue a chance to prove he can handle the job. Putting together a complete performance against the Cardinals would go a long way toward meeting that goal, making him one of the most important players to watch this weekend.— Sign up for the Cowboys Daily Digest newsletter for more free coverage from Dallas Cowboys on SI —Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
