The Defense Ministry has announced that its “Tefkros” anti-drone systems, developed by its research center KETAK, helped protect the country’s prisons from smuggling attempts by unmanned aircraft.

Officials said one system was successfully activated August 20, at Larissa Prison, neutralizing a drone trying to deliver banned items inside.

Defense Ministry sources said the incident highlights the value of domestic technology in countering security threats and confirms these systems can be used beyond purely military purposes.

Officials said the General Secretariat for Anti-Crime Policy will receive 25 more advanced “Tefkros II” systems to upgrade prison security further.
