Tourist arrivals may have increased 6.9% in June, to 4.9 million, compared to June 2025, but revenue was only up 1.2%, to €3.29 billion, Bank of Greece data show.
Spending per person dropped 6.2% year-on-year in June and 0.6% in the first half of the year.
The gains in arrivals came from travelers coming from the rest of the EU (12.2%). Non-EU arrivals were almost steady compared to June 2025.
Arrivals of German tourists rose 6% to 814,600, but spending dropped 14.5%, to €515.1 million. Similarly, 18.2% more French visited (218,200), but spending dropped 33.9%, to €129.8 million.
In the case of the UK, both arrivals (down 12% to 713,800) and spending (down 26.1% to €442.9 million) were off.
