Fourteen persons, including nine from Vuyyuru and five from nearby villages of Krishna district, have fallen ill with diarrheal symptoms in the past three days.According to information from the office of the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), four persons have recovered, the remaining are under treatment in government hospitals. All are stable.DMHO P.L. Dayakar said the first case was reported on August 19, and that all the persons have complained of only diarrhoea. “No one has reported fever or chills or any other symptoms. Two of them were dehydrated and treatment was given to them immediately,” he said. There were no new cases on Saturday (August 22, 2026).While the residents have blamed poor water quality and cross contamination of pipelines for the sickness, the DMHO said the exact cause will be known in 24 hours after the reports of water samples sent to Guntur and Gudivada labs come in. At present, district administration has set up two medical camps and deputed two doctors from nearby Primary Health Centres (PHCs).The DMHO also asked ASHAs and ANMs to carry out a house-to-house survey to check if any person is suffering from similar symptoms.Minister of Health, Medical, and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav on Friday (August 21) inquired with the district officials about the situation in Vuyyuru and directed them to be alert.
