The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-4, on Friday night thanks to a walk-off RBI single from Tommy Edman. The game proved costly, however, as All-Star center fielder Andy Pages suffered a fractured hand and will miss at least the next four weeks.“It’s just really unfortunate, obviously,” manager Dave Roberts said after the game. “It’s not season-ending, because obviously things like that is four or five weeks. So I would expect him back, knowing him, on the earlier side.“There’s still time in the season for him to be back, but I feel for him because he was having such a good year and he likes to play. But yeah, we’ve got to move on and hold down the fort until he’s back.”Pages suffered the injury in the third inning after getting hit by a 100.2 mph fastball from Pirates starter Bubba Chandler. He was able to stay in the game for an inning before being removed in the fifth.Pages is in the midst of a breakout year, both offensively and defensively. It won't be easy for the team to replace his impact on both sides of the ball.“We’re going to huddle up tonight and see who we bring,” Roberts said. “You’ve got to be mindful of the defense, certainly in center field. Somebody that can handle center field. We’ll piece it together. I’m not sure right now, but I do think that the main thing is locking down center field."If defense is the priority, the most obvious option to replace Pages would be center fielder Alek Thomas, who the Dodgers acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this year. He's a plus-defender in center field who the Dodgers have worked to help improve offensively. He's also already on the 40-man roster. The Dodgers could also use Hernández and Edman in center field, and then bring up an infielder such as Alex Freeland, who's on the 40-man roster. The Dodgers will make that move before Saturday's game. Here’s all the latest Dodgers news (click the headline for the full article):Dodgers Surprisingly Demote Pitcher, Call Up Paul Gervase Before Pirates SeriesDodgers Manager Says the Quiet Part Out Loud Regarding Tanner Scott, Edwin DiazDave Roberts Says Dodgers All-Star Starting Pitcher Will Move to Bullpen 'At Some Point'Dodgers' Kyle Tucker Officially Taking Drastic Measures to Get Season on TrackDodgers Announce Starting Pitchers for Series vs Playoff-Hopeful PiratesDodgers Tweets of the DayAre you not entertained? pic.twitter.com/vE7KzjD9Jy— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) August 22, 2026TOMMY CALLED GAME. pic.twitter.com/XOPEW741Ij— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) August 22, 2026Dave Roberts seemed to say the quiet part out loud while talking about Edwin Diaz, Tanner Scott and the Dodgers' closer position👀👀⬇️ pic.twitter.com/q4qt6kSm3A— Dodgers On SI (@DodgersOnSI) August 22, 2026A solid night from Yoshinobu. pic.twitter.com/13FfD7SC4V— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) August 22, 2026Dave Roberts said All-Star LHP Justin Wrobleski will move to the bullpen "at some point" later this season⬇️⬇️With him currently on the injured list, it's possible he's made his last start for the Dodgers this season👀👀 pic.twitter.com/mS6gl0bcQZ— Dodgers On SI (@DodgersOnSI) August 21, 2026Ahoy, Max! pic.twitter.com/hZiWEWpLAJ— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) August 22, 2026Zach Ehrhard has also played CF for OKC but would be a reach at this point— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) August 22, 2026Yoshinobu strikes out the side. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/GF4w0i5aHq— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) August 22, 2026Stan Kasten once again assured media that Mark Walter's ongoing issues with federal investigation will not impact #Dodgers: "The Dodgers are not being sold.
