Alongside the destruction at the Saky air base, the president confirmed that Ukrainian strikes eliminated drone relay stations in Russia’s Bryansk region, which Russian forces used to guide uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) toward Ukrainian targets. Zelensky also referenced the most recent overnight operations, noting strikes on the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery – located approximately 1,000 kilometers from the front line – and a major logistics hub in the Samara region, as well as operations in the Black Sea. Additionally, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published confirmed damage assessments from an Aug. 20 strike on the Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar region. According to the General Staff, follow-up analysis confirmed that the strike damaged a Russian “Niobi” radar station and 18 warehouse buildings used for storing UAVs. Concurrent strikes on Russian logistics and infrastructure The confirmations follow a wave of drone strikes on Saturday morning, Aug. 22, targeting multiple Russian regions. In the Krasnodar region, drones attacked the seaport of Yeysk. Independent Russian media outlets, including the Astra Telegram channel, reported visible smoke rising from the port area, while the Supernova+ channel indicated that a vessel may have caught fire following the strike.
