Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Tiruppur unit, on Friday (August 21, 2026), arrested Jothimani, secretary of the Anna Co-operative House Building Society Limited, and two others, Thirunavukkarasu and Dhaksin, on charges of accepting a bribe of ₹45,000 from a housing loan applicant in exchange for disbursing the amount.The initial bribe demand of ₹66,000 (3% of the ₹22-lakh loan amount) was brought down by Jothimani to ₹55,000, and Thirunavukkarasu received ₹10,000 as an advance on August 19 from the applicant, Loganathan of Gandhi Nagar, for whom the loan was sanctioned on August 11.Unwilling to pay an additional bribe, Loganathan lodged a complaint with the DVAC unit in Tiruppur.The DVAC team registered a case and trapped Thirunavukkarasu and Dakshin as they were obtaining the remaining amount under the instruction of Jothimani.The trio were remanded in judicial custody.
