(Yonhap) Showers swept through Seoul and other parts of central Korea on Saturday, with more scattered rain possible through the evening as hot and humid conditions persist across the country.The Korea Meteorological Administration said Saturday's daytime highs were expected to range from 28 to 34 degrees Celsius, with Seoul reaching around 30 C and southern cities including Gwangju and Busan up to 34 C.While the rain that affected central regions earlier in the day has eased in some areas, scattered showers remain possible across much of the country through Saturday evening. (Yonhap) On Sunday, showers are expected to become more localized, mainly affecting southern Gyeonggi Province, South Chungcheong Province, western North Jeolla Province and mountainous areas of Jeju. Seoul is forecast to remain mostly cloudy.Sunday also marks Cheoseo, a traditional seasonal marker associated with the waning of summer heat, but little relief is expected. Morning lows are forecast at 22 to 26 C and daytime highs at 30 to 35 C.Heat wave advisories remain in place across parts of the Chungcheong and southern regions and Jeju, with apparent temperatures expected to reach around 33 C across much of the country and around 35 C in parts of the south. The typhoon is forecast to strengthen as it moves northwest and approach waters near Okinawa later in the week, though its longer-term path remains uncertain.
