The European wholesale retailer first entered the Philippines in 1996, before its stores were eventually folded into SM's retail empire and converted into SM Hypermarkets in 2009
Makro is returning to the Philippines nearly 20 years after its exit, partnering with Ayala to open stores in four locations across the Greater Manila Area.
The new Makro stores will be located in Cloverleaf, Broadfield, Arca South, and Evo City, with plans to open between Q4 2026 and Q1 2027.
