MANILA, Philippines – British retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S) has signed a new franchise agreement for the Philippines with Indonesian retail giant PT Mitra Adiperkasa Tbk (MAP), paving the way for the reopening of its stores and online channels later this year.

The development came after Tantoco family-led specialty retailer SSI Group announced that it would shut down all M&S stores in the Philippines by May.

Under the new partnership, M&S will offer its fashion, home & beauty, and food products in the country, with its first store set to open at Glorietta before yearend.
